Collaboration

101 Copenhagen X Labotanica Design

Jerome Carrion of Labotanica

101 Copenhagen X Labotanica Design

We are always thrilled to see our vases and trays showcased in a fresh perspective. This is why we were excited about our collaboration with Labotanica design, a distinguished floral design studio nestled in Toulouse, France. Led by the creative mind of Jerome Carrion, this studio resonates with our shared passion for the harmonious blend of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese aesthetics.

Delving deeper into the world of Labotanica design, one discovers it’s more than just preserved plants—it’s an art form. Jerome Carrion, with over five years under his brand, has an illustrious background. Following his art studies and extensive global travels, particularly in Asia, Jerome found his rhythm in contemporary dance. But the call of the botanical world was irresistible. Merging his passion for horticulture and his rich experiences, he established his unique niche in preserved plant design. Labotanica design captures the transient beauty of plants, turning them into timeless artifacts that eternally connect us to nature. Each creation emanates from an inexhaustible wellspring of inspiration, enriching our living spaces with the magnificence of the plant kingdom.

Jerome’s expertise in bonsai-inspired decorations is a delightful complement to our vases and trays. The sheer artistry he employs, gently adhering delicate leaves to natural branches, crafts an enchanting tableau of beauty.

Here the Sumo Vase, Slim Petit in Bone white has been used, but is also available in a lager size.

101 Copenhagen Sumo vase horns with Branches styled by Labotanica

Sumo

Sumo celebrates the human body. As a reference to the Japanese sport Sumo, all vases are voluminous in size and shape, resting on top of narrow pointing legs. All vases have different openings from the traditional narrow vase openings to double openings and deep carved openings. The Sumo collection looks at the contrast between familiar vase shapes and the addition of more artistic, abstract ideas and details, questioning our individual perceptions of the shape of a vase.

The Sumo collection is designed as a stand-alone artistic object yet forming a united family of objects when gathered. As it is a hand glazed natural product, the colours may vary slightly and as it is not 100% waterproof, a bag for fresh flowers is included.

Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl.

Duck Tray

Reminiscent of little, individual three-legged characters or friendly creatures, the Duck series is a playful and exuberant addition to a more minimalist series of trays, vases, bowls, pots, jars, and plates in a modern interior. Yet, true to the design manifest of 101 Copenhagen, the collection is held in natural colours to fit into the Scandinavian home. Duck comes in various shapes, sizes, and colours - like individual family members gathered around a table. As it is a hand glazed natural product, the colours may vary slightly and while it is not 100% waterproof.

101 Copenhagen Oka Tray with botanical design by Labotanica

Oka Tray

The Oka tray is inspired by traditional Japanese serving trays, often produced in wood or bamboo. Transforming this well-known form into a new material, in this case solid fiber concrete, a certain heaviness and a refined texture of the surface is added, without compromising on the recognizable shape. With its sculptural and architectural shape, it can be used for various decoration purposes or standalone as a piece of art in its own right. As it is a natural product, the colours may vary a little. Not 100% waterproof.
